A crucial meeting was held at the Hyderabad Metro Rail office in Begumpet on Friday. The officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd. (HAML) discussed the feasibility of double elevated corridors and alternative routes.

Earlier, the Metro authorities reportedly expressed their reservations over constructing double elevated corridors along the Wipro route in the IT corridor. They stated that maintaining metro stations at heights reaching up to 65 feet would pose significant challenges.

The issue was also figured in a recent meeting with the Chief Minister, who advised both GHMC and HAML to work together to find alternative solutions. The authorities are now focused on identifying viable alternatives that could ensure efficient metro connectivity while addressing operational concerns.

Meanwhile, the HMRL is planning to submit the detailed project reports (DPRs) for three key routes, Medchal, Shamirpet and the Shamshabad Airport-Future City corridor to the government by the end of March 2025.

The metro authorities are currently busy conducting traffic surveys and soil testing for these routes and it is expected to be completed by the end of this month. They are also assessing the environmental aspect of the project. Under the environmental impact assessment (EIA), the authorities will study the air quality, particulate matter levels, sources of air and noise pollution, water resources, biodiversity and the over impact of the project.
