Telangana Cabinet clears Rs. 19,579 crore proposal for Hyderabad metro phase 2 expansion
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, met at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat and approved several key decisions related to employee welfare and infrastructure development.
The Cabinet approved the release of two pending Dearness Allowances (DAs) for government employees. One DA will be paid immediately, and the second after six months. To clear pending retirement benefits of employees from the previous government’s tenure, ₹700 crore will be released every month.
A Healthcare Trust will be established for government employees, with the State Chief Secretary as Chairman. The Cabinet decided to implement a grading system for Village Panchayat Secretaries based on cadre rank. DPC-based promotions will be regularized, and district-level Medical Invalidation Committees will be formed.
A new Directorate of Nursing will be established. Anganwadi workers will be given retirement benefits of up to ₹2 lakh. Re-recruitment of retired employees will be discontinued. The Earth Sciences University in Bhadradri Kothagudem will be named after former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
In the event of accidental death of women Self-Help Group (SHG) members not covered by insurance, the government will provide ₹10 lakh as compensation. An amount of ₹38.5 crore was approved for disbursement to the families of 385 deceased SHG members from last year.
The Cabinet approved the development of 13,000 kilometers of roads under the Roads & Buildings and Panchayati Raj departments. A proposal will be sent to the Central Government for Phase 2 of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, covering 86 kilometers at an estimated cost of ₹19,579 crore.
