Hyderabad Metro announces 10% discount on revised fares from May 24

Hyderabad: L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (L&TMRHL) has announced on May 20, 2025, a 10% discount on the newly revised metro fares, effective from May 24, 2025. The discount will apply across all fare zones in the three metro corridors.

The revised fare structure, which came into effect on May 17, 2025, was based on the recommendations of the Fare Fixation Committee (FFC), constituted under Section 34 of the Metro Railways (Operation & Maintenance) Act, 2002. The committee submitted its report on January 25, 2023. As per Section 37 of the same Act, the committee’s recommendations are binding on the Metro Railway Administration.

L&TMRHL stated that the fare revision was necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of metro operations and maintenance. However, the 10% discount was introduced to reduce the financial burden on commuters and to reflect passenger feedback. KVB Reddy, Managing Director and CEO of L&TMRHL, said, “While the fare revision was essential for sustainability, we understand the need to make commuting affordable. The 10% discount is our effort to balance operational needs with passenger welfare.”
