Three injured in lift crash at Asif Nagar apartment complex
Hyderabad: Three women were injured when a lift malfunctioned in an apartment complex at Murad Nagar, Asif Nagar, on the night of April 6, 2025.
According to reports, the lift's rope snapped as it reached the fourth floor, causing the cabin to plummet to the ground. The three women inside were injured, while two children in the lift escaped unharmed.
Nearby residents heard the loud noise and rushed to the scene to assist the victims. They immediately called an ambulance, and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Their condition is reported as stable. The Asif Nagar police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the lift's failure.
This incident follows a recent tragedy in which a four-and-a-half-year-old boy, Surender, died after becoming trapped in a lift at Mujtaba Apartment in Santosh Nagar Colony on March 12, 2025. Surender, the son of a security guard at the building, was found unconscious inside the lift after being stuck in its grill. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Earlier, on February 22, 2025, a six-year-old boy, Arnav, died after falling into a lift shaft at Maffer Comfortech Apartments in Shantinagar. Despite a successful rescue operation, Arnav passed away two days later in the hospital. Residents are urged to take extra precautions when using lifts.
