Open manholes pose danger in Jubilee Hills
Hyderabad: Open manholes have become a major safety concern in several areas of Jubilee Hills constituency.
At Sri Krishnanagar, residents pointed out dangerous stretches near Saikrupa School, Poorna Tiffin Centre, and the community hall. They said manhole lids and iron grills were removed by officials to divert rainwater after recent downpours.
"Even a short spell of rain now brings floodwater rushing into lanes," residents said. They added that incomplete desilting and poor capacity of drainage pipelines were preventing smooth flow of stormwater.
In OU Colony, the main road leading to Dream Valley and several internal lanes were inundated with sewage overflow. At Shaikpet, drains near the library and the road up to Errakunta were clogged, causing sewage to spill onto the streets. Residents in Saibaba temple lane also expressed concern about open manholes and foul water.
Locals urged authorities to restore manhole covers and strengthen drainage lines to prevent accidents and health risks.
