IPL 2025 betting ring dismantled in Hyderabad; Three held

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, South-East Zone Team, along with Mangalhat Police, arrested three individuals involved in illegal cricket betting and providing line numbers to punters.

The accused, identified as Vicky Singh (38), V. Rakesh (39), and B. Sandeep (26), were apprehended during a raid. The police seized cash amounting to Rs. 1,04,000 and six mobile phones, with a total value of approximately Rs. 3,00,000.

The arrested persons include Vicky Singh, a businessman from Nala Machilipura, Dhoolpet, who acted as the main bookie; V. Rakesh, a pipe supplier from Akashpuri Hanuman Temple, Dhoolpet, who served as a sub-bookie; and B. Sandeep, a Mandi laborer from Goshmahal, who worked as a punter.

The suspects were found to be accepting bets on ongoing IPL 2025 matches by procuring line numbers from a main bookie, Shailender, based in Chennai. The betting operation was being conducted at Nala Machilipura, Dhoolpet.

Following a tip-off, the Task Force, under the leadership of Inspector S. Saidababu, along with SI’s Sk. Kaviuddin, P. Sairam, and M. Madhu, raided the location. The seized property, including the cash, cell phones, and a Samsung LED TV, was handed over to Mangalhat Police Station for further investigation.
