Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, South East Zone, along with Chatrinaka Police, arrested two individuals for the illegal procurement and sale of Mephentermine Sulphate injections. The accused have been identified as 30-year-old Mohammad Zuber, a model from Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Falaknuma, Hyderabad, and 43-year-old Veludandi Vinay Kumar, a medical distributor from RTC Colony, Chengicherla, RR District.
The two individuals were found to be illegally sourcing and selling Mephentermine Sulphate injections without valid licenses or medical prescriptions. Zuber was reportedly a user of the drug, and he sourced it from Vinay Kumar, who in turn procured it from a supplier in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
This arrest follows a similar operation on January 20, 2025, when the Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, in collaboration with the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), seized Mephentermine Sulphate injections from an unlicensed premises in Manikonda Jagir, Ranga Reddy District. The drugs were being sold for misuse in bodybuilding.
Mephentermine Sulphate is a cardiac stimulant used in medical settings to treat low blood pressure. While it has legitimate uses, its misuse, particularly in bodybuilding, poses significant health risks, including cardiovascular disorders, psychosis, and addiction. The sale and distribution of these injections without a prescription is illegal under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, with violators facing up to five years in prison.
