HMDA land auction gets poor response in Turkayamjal and Bachupally
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), which expected high revenues from land auctions, is facing disappointment. Officials had put up 103 leftover plots for sale through e-auction over two days.
On the first day, Wednesday, 12 plots at Turkayamjal were offered with an upset price of ₹65,000 per square yard. However, only two plots received bids. One fetched ₹70,000 per square yard, and another ₹1.10 lakh, according to officials.
Sources said the unusual plot sizes and irregular corners discouraged buyers. The ongoing slowdown in real estate and the higher base price compared to the local market ₹45,000–₹50,000 per square yard also dampened interest.
Officials have not disclosed detailed auction results, leading to criticism.
Officials withhold Bachupally auction details
On Thursday, 70 plots at Bachupally were offered. The area has seen rapid growth, with proximity to Hitec City, IT companies, multinational firms, and several residential and commercial projects. Despite strong expectations, officials have not revealed results, fuelling speculation that the auction too saw weak response.
In earlier years, HMDA plots in Kokapet, Budvel, Keesaragutta, Batasingaram, Pratapsingaram, and Uppal Bhagayat sold quickly due to clear titles and planned layouts. But the current auctions appear to have lost that momentum.
Although officials had projected that all 103 plots would sell like “hot cakes,” the results have fallen short.
