Hyderabad residents urge faster work on Falaknuma Bridge amid traffic woes
Hyderabad: Residents of Hyderabad have raised serious concerns over the slow progress of ongoing construction at the Falaknuma Bridge, which is causing major traffic congestion, especially during peak hours.
The issue was highlighted by the handle People of Hyderabad (@PeopleHyderabad) on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Ongoing work at #Falaknuma Bridge remains slow, causing significant traffic congestion during peak hours. Authorities expedite its completion urgently @GHMCOnline @asadowaisi @MohdMubeen58 @HYDTP @AkbarOwaisi_MIM @TelanganaCMO @shotr_falaknuma @shofalaknuma.”
Residents allege that the construction work is moving at a sluggish pace. The delay is leading to severe inconvenience for commuters, with many reporting daily traffic jams. Several bikers have reportedly sustained minor injuries in recent accidents at the site. Locals fear the risk of accidents may increase further with the onset of the monsoon.
The Falaknuma Bridge is a vital link connecting central Hyderabad to the southern suburbs. Thousands of vehicles pass through the bridge daily. Rapid population growth in surrounding areas such as Shaheen Nagar, Barkas, Errakunta, Bandlaguda, Chandrayangutta, and Pahadishareef has increased the pressure on this key route.
Residents have appealed to elected representatives and civic authorities to expedite the bridge’s completion to ease traffic flow and improve safety.
