Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, has seized counterfeit versions of the cholesterol-lowering drugs 'Rosuvas F 20' and 'Rosuvas F 10' in Hyderabad. The counterfeit tablets, labeled as Rosuvas F 20 and Rosuvas F 10 (Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate), were found with batch numbers SIF2736A and SIF2676A respectively, both with a manufacturing date of December 2024 and an expiry date of May 2027. These were falsely marked as being manufactured at Sun Pharmaceutical's facility in Ranipool, Gangtok, Sikkim.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. confirmed that the detected batches were not genuine and were not manufactured by them. The raids were carried out by a special team from the DCA comprising Assistant Director G. Sreenivas and Drugs Inspectors V. Ajay, M. Hemalatha, Raja Reddy, and K. Murali Krishna.

Rosuvas F tablets are commonly prescribed to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels and help prevent cardiovascular disease. The circulation of counterfeit versions poses serious health risks to patients.

Director General of DCA, Shahnawaz Qasim urged the public to report any suspicious drug manufacturing or distribution activity. Complaints can be made through the DCA Telangana’s toll-free number 1800-599-6969, available from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on all working days. Further investigation is underway, and legal action will be taken against those responsible.
