Hyderabad police book FB page admin for fake post on ex-CJI NV Ramana
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Police have registered a criminal case against the administrator of a Facebook page for allegedly posting inflammatory remarks falsely attributed to former Chief Justice of India (CJI) N.V. Ramana.
According to the complaint filed by Ramana’s personal secretary G. Sudhakara Rao, he came across the post on September 30 while browsing Facebook. The post, shared from a page named Mana Janam, was written in Telugu and contained “highly objectionable, defamatory and provocative content” that misquoted the former CJI. Rao stated that the post appeared to be deliberately designed to “spread enmity and incite violence” by falsely quoting the former CJI as calling for voluntary demolition of religious structures built on public roads. The post reportedly received 166 comments and was shared over 2,500 times.

A senior investigator said technical enquiries had begun to identify the administrator of the Mana Janam page and to secure digital evidence. Rao also sought removal of the post and preventive action against its further circulation under the Information Technology Act. However, as of Saturday, the post had not been taken down.
