In response to this, citizen Krishna Chaitanya urged local authorities to address the issue, stating, “Some of the motorists aren't even able to take U-turns in a few meters and are driving on the wrong side. Please look into this issue.”

According to the Hyderabad City Traffic Police, a special drive against number plate violations and wrong-side driving was conducted on March 9, 2025. During this drive, 1,904 cases of wrong-side driving and 181 cases of number plate violations were registered.

One of the notorious black spots for wrong-side driving is the stretch between Darga and Nanakramguda. Motorists routinely drive on the wrong side, creating a significant risk for other road users.

Local resident Thirupati Reddy expressed his concerns, stating, “Wrong-direction driving has been a problem in Telangana for many years. The police should impose stricter fines and legal actions. The limited number of traffic cops and the closure of many U-turns due to inadequate traffic management are contributing factors.” He also suggested that increasing surveillance and involving the public in reporting violations could help curb the issue. Thirupati Reddy further criticized the practice of offering discounts on traffic fines, saying it undermines the enforcement of traffic rules.

Sri Harsha Tulasi, admin of Team Road Squad, pointed out that one of the reasons for wrong-side driving is the desire to save time, especially with the increasing number of U-turns. He highlighted the danger of wrong-way driving, noting that it can result in severe accidents. "The police must enhance surveillance and enforce stricter penalties," he added.
As a result of this dangerous practice, there has been a significant rise in accidents. Over the past two years, 12 lives have been lost, and more than 350 people have been injured due to wrong-side driving. Authorities have stated that fines for number plate violations will be ₹200. Citizens are encouraged to report violations at 8712661690.

The issue of wrong-side driving remains a serious concern, and the community is calling for increased enforcement and road safety measures to protect lives and ensure smoother traffic flow.
