Hyderabad: Engineering student Jadhav Sai Teja end his life after ragging
HYDERABAD: Despite strict anti-ragging laws in force across colleges, a fresh incident has shocked Telangana. A 19-year-old engineering student, Jadhav Sai Teja, ended his life allegedly due to ragging in Medipally, Medchal district.
Student found dead in hostel
Police said Teja, a second-year BTech student at Siddhartha Institute of Technology in Narapally, was found hanging in his room at Madhu Boys Hostel on Sunday night. He hailed from Utnoor in Adilabad district.
According to preliminary inquiries, Teja faced harassment from senior students who allegedly forced him to consume alcohol and took him to a bar. They reportedly ran up a bill of ₹15,000 and pressured him to pay.
Video sent to father before suicide
The father of a youth who ended his life after an alleged ragging incident at Siddhartha Institute of Engineering & Technology has demanded strict punishment for those responsible.
“My son was beaten badly and forced to pay a bar bill,” the father said. “He sent me a video saying, ‘I am going to die.’ Those responsible for my son’s death must be severely punished.” The father told reporters he wants the four people he holds responsible to face the sternest legal action.
Police and college authorities have said they are investigating the matter, and preliminary reports indicate the student was subjected to harassment by elder students before his death. Details are being examined as inquiries continue.
