Hyderabad doctor killed in fire engine collision near Upparpally
Hyderabad: A woman doctor died in a tragic accident on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, after the scooter she was riding was struck by a fire engine near Upparpally, Attapur.
The victim, identified as Dr. Soha Fatima, 23, was traveling with a colleague towards Rajendranagar when the fire engine reportedly lost control and collided with their scooter. Dr. Fatima, who was not wearing a helmet, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Her friend, also a doctor, was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, where her condition remains serious.
The Rajendranagar police arrived at the scene and have registered a case. Dr. Soha Fatima’s body was sent to Osmania Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
In a similar incident, on March 8, 2025, a fatal hit-and-run accident occurred in Bachupally, killing engineering student K. Nani and injuring his two friends, Karthik and Vishwanth. The trio was riding a scooter when an unidentified vehicle hit them, causing Nani to fall onto the road and be run over by a heavy vehicle. Police are investigating the incident.
In another separate incident, a truck overturned on Masab Tank Road on the morning of Saturday, March 8, 2025. The truck, traveling from Masab Tank towards Mehdipatnam, caused traffic delays. The driver was injured and taken to the hospital.
Earlier, on March 7, 2025, 19-year-old Kanishk Reddy was killed in a collision between a car and a lorry on the Outer Ring Road near Gollapalli Kalan. Kanishk, the grandson of Teegala Krishna Reddy and son of former BRS corporator Teegala Sunaritha Reddy, died from his injuries despite being rushed to the hospital.
These incidents follow a series of fatal accidents in the city, including the deaths of two doctors in January 2025 after their car lost control near Khanapur, and the death of Dr. Nilay Reddy in a crash on the ORR in September 2024. Other fatal accidents have involved pedestrians and motorcyclists being struck by heavy vehicles.
