Hyderabad doctor harassed, extorted by dating app acquaintance
HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old doctor was allegedly harassed and extorted by a man he met through a dating app in Madhapur.
Police said the doctor, a resident of Parvath Nagar and employed at a private hospital, became acquainted with a 26-year-old man living in a hostel at Ayyappa Society through the app. After chatting for about two weeks, they met at a hotel in Ayyappa Society on September 21.
Doctor assaulted, threatened with exposure
During the meeting, the accused allegedly tried to force the doctor into sexual activity. When the doctor resisted, he was assaulted and threatened that the incident would be made public.
Fearing exposure, the doctor handed over ₹5,000.
Accused demanded money at hospital, residence
Later, the accused followed the victim to the hospital and created a scene. He then went to the doctor’s residence and allegedly demanded more money, forcing him to pay another ₹3,000.
With the harassment continuing, the victim lodged a complaint with Madhapur police. A case has been registered and an investigation is under way.
