Man cheats woman doctor met on dating app in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD:
A man allegedly trapped a woman doctor he met on a dating app, took money and jewellery from her, and later blackmailed her. The woman lodged a complaint with Alwal police on Tuesday night.
Doctor loses money and gold
According to police, the 32-year-old accused Subrahmanyam from Ameenpur in Sangareddy district befriended the doctor last year through social media. The woman, an MBBS graduate, runs a private clinic in Alwal. Their friendship turned into a relationship and they decided to marry. Subrahmanyam allegedly told her that his family was facing financial problems. Believing him, she gave him ₹25 lakh in instalments. Her mother also handed over 15 tolas of gold jewellery to him.
Blackmail with photos
When the doctor began pressing for marriage, Subrahmanyam allegedly started blackmailing her. Police said he threatened to upload their private photos on social media if she persisted. He later switched off his phone and began using a new number, making the victim realise she had been cheated. The doctor approached Alwal police, who registered a case and launched an investigation.
