Hyderabad police bust cricket betting racket in Dhoolpet, 3 held
Hyderabad: Ahead of a crucial IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans at Uppal stadium, the Commissioner's Task Force (South East Zone) team busted an organised cricket betting racket in Dhoolpet on Sunday.
Three persons were arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in a cricket betting racket. The police seized Rs. 1.4 lakh in cash and property worth approximately Rs. 3 lakh, including six mobile phones.
Acting on a tip-off, South East Zone Task Force of Hyderabad Commissioner’s Police, in coordination with Mangalhat Police, raided premises in Dhoolpet and apprehended three accused persons, who were identified as 38-year-old Vicky Singh of Nala Machilipura and the main bookie, 39-year-old V Rakesh, a resident of Akashpuri Hanuman Temple area in Dhoolpet, who acted as an assistant bookie and 26-year-old B Sandeep, a punter from Dhankawadi, Goshamahal.
The police said the accused individuals were caught red-handed while operating a cricket betting racket during the ongoing IPL 2025 matches. They were found accepting bets using illegal line numbers provided by the Chennai-based main bookie Shailender and collecting money from punters through online mode.
The arrested persons and seized material were handed over to the Mangalhat Police. The concerned Station House Officer will carry out further investigation in the case.
