College student booked in Hyderabad for posting hateful remarks on Operation Sindoor

Hyderabad: A second-year BBA student from Veda Degree College, Champapet, on May 8, 2025, has been booked for allegedly posting objectionable content on social media in connection with Operation Sindoor.

According to a complaint filed by the college principal, A. Srikanth Reddy, the student shared a post on Instagram as a story that was viewed as inappropriate and potentially provocative. Staff and students reported the content, prompting the college to escalate the matter to the police.

The complaint also stated that the student made additional remarks on WhatsApp that were critical of India and seen as supportive of Pakistan. These comments were viewed as potentially disruptive to public peace. Witness statements from college staff and students were submitted along with the complaint.

Based on the allegations, a case has been registered under Sections 196 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation has been assigned to the Sub-Inspector of Police Rumana.

Inspector G. Nagaraju of IS Sadan Police Station confirmed that the FIR has been filed and further investigation is underway.
