Bomb threat halts proceedings at Hyderabad City Civil Courts
Hyderabad: Panic gripped the Hyderabad City Civil Courts on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, after a bomb threat was received via email, prompting immediate evacuation of the premises and suspension of all legal proceedings.
Upon learning the information, police and bomb disposal teams rushed to the site and began a thorough search of the court buildings. Judges, lawyers, court staff, and visitors were evacuated as a precaution. Entry into the court complex has been restricted until further notice.
The email, reportedly sent to the Chief Judge of the City Civil Court, claimed that four RDX-based improvised explosive devices had been planted in judge chambers and at the Gymkhana Club. It warned that the club would be targeted 23 minutes after the court.
The message, now circulating on social media, also contained unrelated and disturbing allegations involving individuals in Tamil Nadu. It claimed the motive behind the threat was to draw attention to those issues rather than to cause mass casualties.
Police are investigating the origin of the email and whether anyone involved in ongoing cases at the court could be linked to the threat. Searches are still underway, and the premises remain under tight security.
This is the latest in a series of bomb threats reported in the city. On January 28, 2025, Delhi Public School in Nacharam received a similar threat via email. The campus was evacuated, but the threat turned out to be a hoax.
A previous case in October 2024 involved the CRPF School in Jawahar Nagar, Secunderabad, where a bomb threat also led to an evacuation. No explosives were found. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have urged the public to remain calm while security checks are completed.
