Hyderabad braces for more rain after cloudburst, traffic police issue advisory
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Traffic Police and weather officials have issued an alert for Hyderabad residents as the city prepares for another round of rainfall following last night’s intense cloudburst, which dumped over 100 mm of rain in several areas. While next 24 hours showers are expected to be less severe, authorities warn of moderate to heavy thunderstorms in the evening and night, with potential waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

According to the latest IMD updates, most parts of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) zone will remain dry until evening, with only isolated light rain. However, between 5 PM and 2 AM, scattered moderate to intense thunderstorms may develop across different areas. From 2 AM to 9 AM, light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue in some localities, with 25-45 mm of rain predicted.

Thursday night’s sudden cloudburst caused severe waterlogging in low-lying areas, with some roads suffering damage due to the heavy downpour. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has classified Friday’s alert level as orange, urging residents to stay cautious.
The Cyberabad Traffic Police have advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel during peak rain hours (evening & night), work from home if possible, leave offices early to prevent being stranded in sudden heavy showers, and watch out for waterlogged streets and damaged roads, especially in low-lying zones.Citizens are urged to follow official updates and avoid venturing out during heavy downpours.
