Hyderabad’s Amit Mishra Secures Spot at LSE, Eyes Global Impact
Hyderabad: Amit Mishra, a promising scholar rooted in Hyderabad’s vibrant academic landscape, is set to begin a new chapter at the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where he will pursue an MSc in Organisational and Social Psychology. LSE, renowned for nurturing global changemakers including Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen, and former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, marks a fitting next step for Amit’s globally focused aspirations.
Though originally from Jamshedpur, Amit has spent the formative years of his academic and professional life in Hyderabad. His journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Jamshedpur, followed by a move to Hyderabad to pursue a Master's in Natural Resources and Governance at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). It was at TISS Hyderabad that his interest in the dynamics of leadership, society, and human behavior first took shape — an interest that would go on to define his academic path.
Amit continued to build on this foundation with a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Ghaziabad. He later joined the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, where he spent two years as a researcher working on projects related to strategy, leadership, and organizational behavior. Currently, he is a Research Scholar at IMT Hyderabad, with a focus on workplace well-being, leadership, and organizational innovation.
Hyderabad has played a central role in Amit’s growth, both intellectually and professionally. The city’s dynamic mix of tradition and modernity, combined with its strong academic and corporate ecosystems, provided the ideal environment for him to flourish. His experiences here have deeply influenced his mission to foster more empathetic and innovative work cultures.
His work has not gone unnoticed. In 2024, Amit was honored as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), London — a recognition granted to individuals driving meaningful change in society. That same year, he also received the prestigious Dr. Ram Tarneja Award for Best Article in Management, presented by India’s Education Minister, Dr. Dharmendra Pradhan, and NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.
Reflecting on his journey, Amit remarked,
“Hyderabad has been instrumental in shaping my academic journey and values. It offered me mentors, community, and a space to think freely. My dream of contributing to global change was born right here.”
His journey from the classrooms and research hubs of Hyderabad to the international academic stage is a powerful narrative of perseverance, vision, and social commitment. Amit Mishra stands as an inspiration not just to students in Hyderabad and Jamshedpur, but to young minds across India — proving that global ambitions can indeed take root in one’s local beginnings.
