HYDERABAD: A major theft at Brilliant Engineering College in Abdullapurmet has taken a new turn, with police reportedly finding key leads in the investigation.
According to sources, the burglars carried away nearly 100 CCTV hard disks from the college building to ensure their movements were not recorded. The incident has turned into a major challenge for investigators.

Burglars seen entering campus at midnight

CCTV footage shows three masked men entering the college premises around 12.45am on Thursday. They reportedly completed the operation within 30 to 45 minutes and fled with cash amounting to about ₹1.7 crore, which they packed in bags before leaving the campus.

Police suspect the burglars are between 20 and 30 years old. It is yet to be established whether they escaped on foot or used a vehicle.

Seven special teams formed

Rachakonda police have formed seven special teams to track down the gang. Since Friday morning, these teams have been gathering information about known offenders involved in similar heists in the past.

Investigators are also analysing CCTV footage from the college and nearby roads. Mobile phone signal data from the area at the time of the theft is being traced to identify possible suspects. Preliminary findings indicate that some mobile numbers active in Abdullapurmet during the crime later showed movement in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor and Tirupati regions.
