Gruesome Medipally murder: Husband kills pregnant wife, dumps in Musi

Hyderabad: In a gruesome murder, a 22-year-old pregnant woman was allegedly killed by her husband in their rented apartment in Balaji Hills of Medipally police station limits, Rachakonda Commissionerate, on Sunday.

The crime came to light after the Medipally police, acting on a tip-off from a relative of the accused, arrested S Mahender Reddy from his residence in Balaji Hills. The police have registered a case and are investigating the motive behind the brutality.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, identified as Mahender Reddy, allegedly dismembered his wife, Swathi alias Jyoti, before stuffing her body parts into a bag and dumping them into the Musi River.

According to the police, the couple hailing from Kamareddyguda village in Vikarabad district, investigations reveal a troubled relationship from the start, as he was a reluctant groom. “It seems Mahender Reddy loved Swathi but did not want to get married. After their relationship was revealed, the elders convinced them and got them married," said the police. The couple had previously lived in Boduppal for ten months before returning to their village. They came back to Hyderabad 25 days ago to stay in a rented house in Balaji Hills. It was here that the tragedy unfolded, added police.

According to the victim's family, Swathi was four months pregnant, but relatives allege that the unwilling husband had previously forced her to get an abortion. Swathi's relatives have accused Mahender of planning the murder. "He killed her as per the plan," a relative claimed.

The body of the deceased has been shifted to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination, and a thorough investigation is underway.
