HMDA denies claims of registration ban on unauthorised layouts in Gram Panchayats
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), on November 3, 2024, issued a clarification regarding the registration of plots in unauthorised layouts within Gram Panchayats located in HMDA limits. The HMDA's official account on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) addressed reports circulating in certain media outlets that claimed the registration of plots in these unauthorised layouts had been prohibited.
The HMDA confirmed, "It has been reported by certain sections of the media that the registration of plots in unauthorised layouts in Gram Panchayats within HMDA limits has been prohibited. In this regard, it is clarified that, over the past year, neither HMDA has sent any such request to the Registration & Stamps Department, nor has the State Government issued any order to stop the registration of plots for unauthorised layouts in Gram Panchayats. These reports are completely baseless and are far from the truth. Citizens are advised not to give credence to such unfounded rumours."
Previously, reports suggested that the Telangana Government had instructed sub-registrars to halt property registrations in all illegal Gram Panchayat layouts. This directive had placed numerous property owners in Rangareddy, Medak, and Mahbubnagar districts in a precarious position, as HMDA had marked these unauthorised layouts on its Prohibited List.
