Sudden storm uproots 60 trees across Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Heavy rains lashed Hyderabad on Friday evening, accompanied by strong winds, resulting in the uprooting of over 60 trees across the city. The sudden shift in weather conditions triggered an immediate response from the Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams under HYDRAA.
By 10 p.m., reports confirmed tree falls at more than 60 locations, leading to traffic disruptions and power outages in several areas. DRF teams were alerted soon after the weather warnings and swiftly deployed to begin clearance operations.
Around 30 DRF teams are involved in removing uprooted trees, with a focus on major roads and areas experiencing power disruptions. Tree removal has been carried out at Saroor Nagar Police Station and other critical locations.
The affected areas include Vijayanagar Colony, Kukatpally, Darussalam, High Court, BN Reddy Nagar, Falaknuma, Sultan Bazaar, Kachiguda, Sindhi Colony, and Methodist Colony. A majority of the incidents were reported in Nampally, Malakpet, Saroor Nagar, and parts of the Old City.
DRF teams were also deployed to known water stagnation points to prevent flooding. According to HYDRAA officials, about 70% of the complaints received were addressed by the end of the night, with clearance efforts continuing where needed.
