Forged club documents helped Jagan Mohan Rao illegally become HCA president: CID
Hyderabad: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Telangana Police has arrested five people in connection with a forgery and misappropriation case involving the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). On July 09, 2025, CID teams apprehended the following accused persons: A. Jagan Mohan Rao, President of HCA; JS. Srinivasa Rao, Treasurer of HCA; Sunil Kante, CEO of HCA; Rajendra Yadav, General Secretary of Sri Chakra Cricket Club; and G. Kavitha, President of Sri Chakra Cricket Club.
The case was registered on June 9, 2025, following a complaint by Dharam Guruva Reddy, General Secretary of the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA). The complaint alleged forgery of documents, cheating, criminal breach of trust, and misappropriation of funds by HCA office bearers.
CID investigations revealed that A. Jagan Mohan Rao, along with C. Rajender Yadav and his wife G. Kavitha, created forged documents of Sri Chakra Cricket Club. These documents were falsely identified as belonging to Gowlipura Cricket Club, with the forged signature of C. Krishna Yadav, President of Gowlipura Cricket Club. Using these forged papers, Jagan Mohan Rao illegally secured the position of President of the HCA.
Further inquiry showed that Jagan Mohan Rao, in collusion with JS. Srinivasa Rao, Treasurer of HCA, Sunil Kante, CEO of HCA, and others, misappropriated public funds and committed criminal breach of trust. The accused also wrongfully restrained officials of the IPL’s Sunrisers Hyderabad team, reportedly using intimidation and blackmail over complimentary tickets and access to corporate boxes, threatening them with serious consequences. The investigation is ongoing.
