Hafizpet railway station modernisation nears completion
HYDERABAD: The ₹29.21-crore redevelopment of Hafizpet railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) has reached its final phase, with about 80% of the works completed. Officials said the upgraded facilities will soon be opened to passengers.
The railways is modernising 40 stations across Telangana at an estimated cost of ₹2,750 crore as part of the national scheme. Some of these, including Hafizpet station within the Greater Hyderabad limits, are in the finishing stages.
Officials said the project aims to improve passenger experience and raise service quality. The works are being carried out based on a detailed master plan to meet growing passenger needs with a long-term vision.

Hafizpet’s growing significance
Located between Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Hafizpet station serves as a key suburban stop catering mainly to short-distance passengers. Around 9,000 commuters use the station daily, railway officials said.
Once completed, the redevelopment is expected to enhance the suburban rail experience and ease congestion at nearby stations.
