Grand Alai Balai celebrations held at Numaish Grounds
Hyderabad: The Alai Balai event kicked off at the Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, in Hyderabad on Sunday. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma was the chief guest.
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya had started the Dasara Conclave in 2005 and today his daughter and Alai Balai Foundation Chairperson Bandaru Vijayalakshmi is hosting the event.
The Governor inaugurated the 19th ‘Ala-Balai’ Dasara Conclave which was attended by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. Bandaru Dattatreya presented the black woollen blanket, a cultural symbol and traditional craft in Telangana, to the dignitaries on the dais.
Speaking on the Occasion, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said Indian festivals embody ideals of unity, integrity, and harmony among people. They form a deep and inseparable bond of social cohesion that brings communities together, he said.
Addressing the Dasara Conclave, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy praised Bandaru Dattatreya for starting the Alai Balai which inspired the Telangana statehood movement. He also said this is the only platform that once brought political parties together under one umbrella.
The local artists captivated the audience with their stunning performances which includedtraditional kolam and tribal dances. The event also featured acrobatics by Pothuraju and traditional Hyderabadi marfa instrumental music. Later, the guests and participants were served delectable traditional Telangana dishes such as fish curry, pachhi pulusu and sarva pindi.
