GHMC sets May 15 deadline for Shilpa Layout flyover
Hyderabad: The commuters can heave a sigh of relief as Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) plans to complete the construction works of Shilpa Layout Flyover, connecting Gachibowli and Kondapur, by May 15, 2025.
Chief Engineer Bhaskar Reddy announced the date of completion after conducting an inspection of the ongoing work. He was accompanied by the superintending engineer, executive engineer, project consultants, and representatives of the construction agency.
While inspecting the progress, the Chief Engineer instructed the officials to ensure that the land acquisition process is expedited and also told the construction agency to speed up the completion of the service road on the left side from Gachibowli to Kondapur.
When the Chief Engineer was apprised that the delays in shifting electrical equipment were affecting the progress, he directed the Executive Engineer to take immediate steps to resolve the issue. He noted that the lack of space for stormwater drain installation was causing further delays.
Bhaskar Reddy directed the officials to acquire properties for the Old Bombay Highway junction and emphasised that work on the ORR stretch, PSO median and related projects must be expedited.
The Chief Engineer insisted on adherence to design standards for expansion joints and said the work on remaining deck slabs must be completed soon. He added that the timely execution of crash barriers, medians, gantries, signboards, painting, and all finishing works on the Shilpa Layout Flyover is necessary to meet the May 15 deadline.
Earlier, the Hyderabad traffic police issued a traffic advisory due to the construction of the SRDP Shilpa Layout Phase-II flyover at Gachibowli junction. The traffic diversions were announced for two months to carry out essential work by the civic body.
Commuters coming from ZPHS towards Gachibowli were advised to take diversion at Rolling Hills towards Shilpa flyover or Radisson Hotel towards Gachibowli via DLF, IIIT Junction
