GHMC on standby as IMD forecasts 5-7 cm rains in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A yellow alert has been issued for the rains in Hyderabad and its surrounding districts by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest alert released on Sunday evening. The yellow alert indicates that the residents should be ‘be updated’ for the moderate rains. The city and its surrounding districts including Medchal Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Vikarabad and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri should brace for rains from 5 to 10 in the evening.
The official alert released by the IMD states that, “Generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers at times, intense spells accompanied with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) very likely to occur in the city. Hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 30°C and 22°C respectively. Surface winds are likely to be westerlies/north westerlies with wind speeds around 06-08 kmph.”
The official alert released by the GHMC states that, “Generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers at times, intense spells expecting 5 cm to 7 cm in parts of the city/GHMC around 5 PM to 10 PM.” The GHMC states that their teams are on standby and, for help, citizens can contact their toll-free number 040-2111111.
Further, a yellow alert has also been issued for the other districts of Telangana by the IMD. The alert reads, “Light rain and light thunderstorms with a maximum surface wind speed of less than 40 kmph are very likely to occur in Jaishankar Bhuapalapally, Jogulamba Gadwal, Kamareddy, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, Nizamabad, Rajananna Sircilla, Sangareddy, and Wanaparthy districts during the next 2-3 hours.”
