Banjara Hills: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), on October 28, 2024, has taken action against a street vendor, WOW Hot Momos/Delhi Hot Momos, following a tragic incident that resulted in the death of one woman and caused over 20 individuals to fall ill due to food poisoning. The incident occurred on October 25, 2024, near the Nandi Nagar Bus Stop in Banjara Hills.

According to a statement from the GHMC, "On October 28, 2024, we received information from media sources regarding several cases of illness after consumption of momos from a street vendor located on Road No. 74, Banjara Hills." The food safety officials, along with the Banjara Hills police, located the vendor operating from H.No 10-1-57912, Chintal Basti, Khairatabad.

Upon inspection, the GHMC found that the establishment was operating without a Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license and was preparing food under unhygienic conditions. Food safety officials collected samples of the food for analysis at the State Food Laboratory and issued orders to halt its business operations.

The GHMC has also requested the Station House Officer (SHO) of Banjara Hills to conduct an inquiry into the matter and take appropriate action against the vendor.
