GHMC Property Tax Wing official caught taking Rs. 30,000 bribe in Moosapet
Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana, City Range-2 Unit, caught M. Sunitha, Senior Assistant in the Property Tax Wing at the Moosapet Circle-23 office of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), while accepting a bribe of ₹30,000.
According to ACB officials, Sunitha demanded the bribe from a complainant in exchange for initiating and processing a property mutation file and fixing the property tax for a house currently registered in the name of the complainant’s mother.
The bribe amount was recovered from Sunitha at her instance. A chemical test confirmed the presence of the bribe amount on the fingers of her right hand. Officials stated that she acted dishonestly in the discharge of her official duties. Sunitha has been arrested and sent to judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
MRO and Attender Arrested for ₹10,000 Bribe in Ranga Reddy District
In another separate case, B. Nagarjuna, the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) of Talakondapally in Ranga Reddy District, along with his attendant Yadagiri, was arrested for accepting a ₹10,000 bribe.
The two officials had allegedly demanded the bribe from a complainant to register 22 guntas of agricultural land in the names of the complainant and his relatives, which was initially registered under the name of the complainant’s mother.
The bribe amount was recovered from Yadagiri, the attender, at the direction of MRO Nagarjuna. Both officials underwent a chemical test, which confirmed the presence of the bribe on their hands. Nagarjuna and Yadagiri have been arrested and sent to judicial remand. The investigation into this case is also ongoing.
The ACB has urged the public to report any demands for bribes by government officials by calling the toll-free number 1064.
