GHMC official caught accepting Rs. 1.2 lakh bribe in Kapra Circle

Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials from the Ranga Reddy Unit on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, caught B. Swaroopa, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Kapra Circle-1, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), while accepting a bribe of ₹1,20,000.

According to ACB officials, Swaroopa demanded the bribe from a contractor in exchange for writing Measurement Book (MB) entries for work already completed by the complainant. She was caught red-handed at 2:20 PM while accepting the money. The bribe amount was recovered from her possession.

Swaroopa was arrested and is being produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally, Hyderabad. The case is under investigation.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has urged citizens to report any bribe demands made by public servants. Complaints can be lodged through the toll-free number 1064, via WhatsApp at 9440446106, or through ACB Telangana’s official social media platforms on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) under the handle @TelanganaACB. The identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
