Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) is about to open India’s most advanced fully automated multi-level parking complex at Nampally. Built with cutting-edge German ‘Palis’ technology, the facility promises to revolutionise parking in the city with its contactless, AI-driven system.

A first-of-its-kind parking marvel

The 15-floor complex, constructed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, features 10 automated parking floors with space for 250 cars and 200 bikes, 5 commercial floors, including two state-of-the-art cinema screens and a city-view gallery. "It is a 15-floor complex with 10 floors for parking and 5 floors for commercial use, including two state-of-the-art movie screens.

It is based on the Germany-based Palis system, the 5th such system globally and a first in India," said Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMRL) NVS Reddy in his official social media handle.

The "puzzle parking" system operates automatically, drivers leave their vehicle on a turntable, and the robotic system parks it in the most efficient manner based on size, without any human intervention, which reduces time and congestion.

Developed at a cost of Rs 102 crore by Novum, a firm led by tech entrepreneur Harikishen Reddy and his wife Bhavana Reddy, this is the fifth such facility globally and the first in India, Reddy added.

Constructed on 2,000 square yards of HMRL land under a 50-year concession, the project aims to ease parking woes in Hyderabad’s busy Nampally area. HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy inspected the facility on August 10, calling it "likely to usher in a parking revolution in Hyderabad and India."
