Ganesh Laddu Auctioned for 2.32 Crore at Bandlaguda
Record Bidding in Bandlaguda
The festive laddu at Keerthi Richmond Villas in Bandlaguda was auctioned for ₹2.32 crore on Friday night, setting a new record during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Weighing 10 kilograms, the sweet fetched ₹45 lakh more than last year’s ₹1.87 crore. The auction began at 8.15 p.m. and concluded at 10.40 p.m. after over 500 bids were placed across 2.5 hours. More than 80 villa owners participated, grouped into four teams, in what organisers called a group auction model designed to promote teamwork and avoid disputes.
Funds Directed to Social Causes
Proceeds from the auction will go to the RV Diya Charitable Trust, which supports more than 42 NGOs working in areas including old-age care, menstrual hygiene, women’s welfare, education, medical aid, nutrition, and animal welfare. Collectively, these organisations reach over 10,000 beneficiaries. Organisers emphasised that all activities are volunteer-run with no administrative costs, ensuring that every rupee raised goes directly to NGOs, mainly in Hyderabad. The laddu, kept before the Ganesh idol for 10 days, is later divided and distributed as prasad among villa residents and visitors.
