Hyderabad: From Kuchipudi steps to devotional beats, from parayanams recited by groups of women to children battling it out in quiz contests, the Ganesh festival at Rainbow Vistas Rock Garden in Kukatpally has become a cultural kaleidoscope for its 10,000-odd residents. Over 2,600 families across 13 blocks are celebrating the 11-day festival with rituals, food, music, dance, and competitions that have transformed the gated community into a 'Mini India.'

Each morning begins with poojas, while afternoons see women residents chanting parayanams. Evenings are reserved for cultural programs ranging from Bharatanatyam to devotional dances, followed by children’s and teenagers’ performances, and lighter moments like Tambola. On Saturday night, the song “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” echoed in the background, reinforcing the spirit of unity that has defined this year’s celebrations. Daily prasadam distribution is taken up by block-wise donors, ensuring everyone gets involved.

The highlight so far was a special show by the women of K Block on the theme Unity in Diversity, which drew loud appreciation. Residents say the celebrations mirror the community’s diversity, where families from different regions and languages contribute to the festive fervour.

A German Hangers tent has been erected to keep the venue weatherproof, while a quiz competition with prizes sponsored by Freedom Oil kept the children engaged. The festival will culminate with the Nimajjanam on September 6, to be held inside the premises to avoid traffic disruption. The 25-member Cultural Committee, led by President Satyanarayan Reddy, Vice-President J. Krupakar Reddy, and General Secretary Ram Tilak, has been coordinating the events. With near-total participation from residents, the celebrations here stand out as one of the city’s most organised and lively community-led Ganesh festivities.
