Free cardiac surgery services for children at NIMS Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad is offering free heart treatments for children, according to doctors from the Cardio-Thoracic Department. Surgeries will be provided at no cost for children with Aarogyasri or approval letters from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF).
Dr. Praveen clarified that there had been confusion regarding heart checkups and surgeries for children at NIMS. To address these concerns, the hospital has launched a special awareness program. He explained that NIMS offers heart-related medical services to people from all sections of society.
For patients from Telangana, the required documents include the parent's Aadhaar card, the patient's birth certificate, and a ration card. For patients from Andhra Pradesh, treatment can be availed with an Aadhaar card from the state or a letter from the CMRF.
Dr. Praveen also mentioned that free pediatric cardiac surgeries are conducted at the Pediatric Cardiac ICU on the first floor of the old building at NIMS. These services are available daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on government holidays, under the supervision of Dr. Amaresh Rao, with Dr. Praveen and Dr. Gopal available for consultation.
