Former BRS MLA Patnam Narender Reddy arrested in alleged involvement in Vikarabad Collector attack
Hyderabad: Former BRS MLA Patnam Narender Reddy was arrested by the police on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, for his alleged connection with an attack on Vikarabad District Collector Prateek Jain and other officials in Kodangal.
The attack occurred during protests by farmers opposing land acquisition for pharmaceutical companies.
Narender Reddy, who previously served as the MLA from Kodangal, was reportedly apprehended at KBR Park, and later taken to the Parigi police station.
This action followed the discovery that one of the accused, Suresh, is a supporter of Reddy, raising suspicions of his involvement.
The violence erupted as farmers, protesting the proposed land acquisition, felt their livelihoods were at risk. The situation escalated, leading to the attack on Collector Prateek Jain and the other officials.
Along with Narender Reddy’s arrest, 16 others have been taken into custody and remanded to judicial detention. Initially, 55 people were questioned by the police in relation to the attack incident.
