Hyderabad: Citizens have raised concerns over footpath encroachment near Hitex, beside Kisaan Parivar Mart in Hitec City. According to reports, wooden benches and debris have been placed on the footpath, forcing pedestrians to walk on the main road, raising the risk of accidents.

The issue was highlighted on social media by a user, Riyaz (@Riyazzuddin555), who tagged officials and appealed for action. His post read, “People are blocking footpath at Hitec city near Hitex beside Kisaan Parivar Mart by placing wooden bench and debris. Req @GHMCOnline to kindly clear it and allow pedestrians to use footpath. @dcpmadhapur_cyb @CYBTRAFFIC @cyberabadpolice.”

Other users also flagged the issue, tagging the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and seeking immediate clearance of the obstruction. GHMC responded, stating, “Dear Citizen, the issue has been brought to the notice of the @Dc21Ghmc @acpchandanagar.”

Earlier this year, Hyderabad authorities launched Operation ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments) to address such issues citywide. The initiative aims to improve traffic flow by removing illegal parking and encroachments.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand had addressed similar complaints earlier via X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the need for coordination between government departments including GHMC, RTC, RTA, and elected representatives. He warned that without timely intervention, Hyderabad could face infrastructural challenges similar to those seen in Bengaluru.

He acknowledged that while the traffic police cannot resolve all structural problems, they are committed to implementing measures to ease traffic and improve pedestrian safety.

Residents facing issues with water or sewerage can contact the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) at 155313 or 040-23300114, or via social media. GHMC can be reached through its official handle @GHMCOnline.
