Cockroaches & beetle-infested flour found at Chutneys in Kondapur mall
Kondapur: A task force from the Telangana Commissioner of Food Safety conducted inspections at Sarath City Mall in Kondapur on October 16, 2024, revealing multiple food safety violations at two establishments, Chutneys and Alpahar Tiffins.
Chutneys, Sarath City Mall, Kondapur
During the raid at Chutneys, officials found that the FSSAI license was not prominently displayed. Additionally, cockroaches were found in the raw material storage area, and both whole wheat flour (atta) and semolina (ravva) were infested with black beetles.
The inspection also noted that sanitary liquids were stored alongside raw materials, and onions and cabbage were spoiled and unfit for human consumption. The wash area was described as unclean, emitting a foul odour. Moreover, food handlers lacked FoSTaC training, and iron knives were being used for cutting.
Alpahar Tiffins, Sarath City Mall, Kondapur
The inspection at Alpahar Tiffins revealed similar violations. The establishment failed to display its license prominently. Dustbins were left open, prepared food was not covered, and semi-prepared food was not labelled in the refrigerator.
Additionally, iron knives were used for cutting, and food handlers did not possess the required FoSTaC training.
The task force has taken immediate action to ensure compliance with food safety standards and protect public health. Consumers are encouraged to report food safety concerns using the FoSCoS App.
