Gachibowli: ‘Fit India Cycling’ drive organized to promote healthy lifestyle
Hyderabad: ‘Fit India Cycling’ drive was flagged off at Gachibowli in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The drive was part of a countrywide ‘Fit India Movement’ initiated by the Central government to promote a healthy lifestyle among the citizens of India.
As many as 100 cycling enthusiasts pedalled the 3-kilometre ride from Gachibowli Stadium and back. The cycling drive was launched by Para-Olympic Bronze medalist Kumari Jeevan Deepthi at the Hockey Complex. The event saw an active participation from athletes, youth, and citizens.
In New Delhi, the Sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya flagged off the 'Fit India Cycling’ drive' at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. The 3-km ride from Raisina Hills and back was joined by close to 500 enthusiasts.
A similar drive was held in over 1,000 locations across the country on Tuesday. The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports' Fit India movement, in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), MY Bharat, and various sports authorities.
“We have launched this event as 'Fit India Cycling Tuesdays' but for the convenience of cycling enthusiasts, this will now be conducted on Sundays and be called 'Sundays on Cycle’,” said Mandaviya in a press release.
