Fish Prasadam distribution event to be held on June 8 at Nampally Exhibition Grounds
Hyderabad: The annual Fish Prasadam distribution event will take place on June 8 at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds. The Fisheries Department has arranged 1.5 lakh fish fingerlings for the event.
Minister-in-Charge of Hyderabad, Ponnam Prabhakar, held a review meeting at the Secretariat to finalize preparations. Officials present included Fisheries Corporation Chairman Mettu Sai Kumar, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetty, Additional CP Vikram Singh Mann, Central Zone DCP Shilpavalli, and representatives from Revenue, Health, Fire, Water Works, R&B departments, as well as members of the Bathini family.
The Minister directed that better arrangements be made this year to accommodate the expected large number of devotees. Medical camps and fire safety teams will be set up at the venue. Departments such as Police, Revenue, R&B, GHMC, and Electricity must coordinate effectively to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
The Bathini family has been distributing Fish Prasadam to asthma patients in Hyderabad for the past 185 years. The government will provide necessary support for the event. Police have been instructed to maintain strict security and law and order.
The Nampally Exhibition Society will bear the cost of the fish fingerlings. Barricades will be installed in queue lines, with separate queues for women and senior citizens. VIP passes will be limited.
Adequate drinking water, toilet facilities, and food arrangements will be provided, with support from voluntary organizations and GHMC. Ten parking zones have been designated around the venue, and crane vehicles will be ready to tow stranded vehicles. Signboards will be installed for traffic management.
GHMC sanitation staff will remain on duty throughout the event to maintain cleanliness. Veterinary doctors will oversee fish handling, and food safety officials will supervise distribution. Uninterrupted electricity supply will be ensured in the Doodh Bowli and Nampally areas.
Special RTC buses will operate from Secunderabad Railway Station, Kachiguda, and Charlapally to the venue. Wheelchairs will be available at prasadam distribution points. Four health camps and ambulances will be deployed. Volunteers will receive CPR training, and additional token distribution counters will be set up.
Volunteers from the Lions Club and NCC will assist. Coordination will be managed by officials overseeing 20 designated areas. The Bathini family members attending the meeting included Amarnath Goud, Gauri Shankar, Chandrasekhar, Shiva Shankar, and Santosh.
