The annual fish prasadam distribution in Hyderabad will be held at the Nampally Exhibition Ground on June 8 and 9. Organised by the Bathini family with support from the Telangana Fisheries Department, the event is expected to draw over 1.5 lakh people.
The Bathini family has been distributing this fish-based preparation for decades, promoting it as a traditional remedy for asthma and other respiratory ailments. The distribution will begin at 9 am on both days.
For the first time, organisers are introducing a token system to manage the large turnout. Tokens will be issued near the exhibition grounds and are intended to regulate the flow of people and reduce overcrowding. Distribution timings will be adjusted depending on the crowd size.
Officials say all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the event runs smoothly. Medical teams, drinking water, waiting areas, and security have been set up to accommodate the thousands of visitors expected.
Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Sridhar Babu, and other public representatives are expected to attend the event.
The fish prasadam is made by inserting a herbal paste into a live murrel fish, which is then swallowed by the recipient. Due to the sensitive nature of the distribution and the large gathering, officials have urged attendees to follow instructions and cooperate with volunteers on the ground. The program remains one of Hyderabad’s most attended and distinctive health traditions, blending faith, folklore, and public participation.
In view of the Fish Prasadam distribution, traffic diversions will be in place from the evening of June 7 to June 9, 2025. Key routes around MJ Market, Gandhi Bhavan, and Nampally will be affected.
Visitors are advised to follow designated parking and entry points. Heavy vehicles and general traffic will be diverted at multiple junctions. Commuters should use alternative routes. For assistance, call the traffic helpline at 9010203626
With the new crowd control measures in place, authorities hope to ensure a more organised and safe experience for all participants.
