Fire breaks out at potato chips godown in Hyderabad’s Jagadgirigutta
Hyderabad: A fire broke out early Wednesday morning, July 16, 2025, at a godown of a potato chips manufacturing company, located in Papireddy Nagar, Jagadgirigutta. Thick smoke spread through the area, triggering panic among residents. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control using two fire engines.
No casualties were reported, but the property sustained heavy damage. While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, police suspect it may have been triggered by a short circuit.
The godown stored large quantities of plastic, fibre, and other flammable materials, which intensified the fire. This incident is the latest in a series of fire-related occurrences reported across Hyderabad in recent weeks.
On July 12, a fire broke out when a chemical-loaded auto caught fire near the LB Nagar Commissioner of Police Camp Office. Earlier, on the morning of July 10, the Tirupati Rubber Company in Netaji Nagar, located in the Katedan Industrial Area, caught fire. Later that same day, a car caught fire shortly after refueling at a BPCL fuel station near the Mailardevpally Police Station. The station staff acted promptly and managed to contain the fire. No one was hurt in the incident.
In light of these repeated incidents, authorities explained the importance of strict adherence to fire safety measures, particularly in industrial and commercial zones.
