Over the past two days, Kamareddy, Medak, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Rajanna Siricilla, and Siddipet districts witnessed heavy flooding as rivers, streams, and irrigation tanks overflowed, with breaches leading to inundation of fields and colonies. The Telangana Fire and Disaster Response Department deployed maximum resources to carry out rescue operations despite disrupted road and bridge connectivity.

In 31 major operations, 1,646 people including farmers, students, elderly, children, pregnant women, and livestock were rescued. Fire personnel continued late-night efforts at GR Colony and nearby areas of Kamareddy town, working until 11:30 PM on Wednesday in high floodwaters. Two firemen were briefly washed away along with their vehicle but survived due to swift response. Equipment such as life buoys and jackets was damaged, along with rescue vehicles and boats.

Department issues clarification on claims

The Director General of Telangana Fire and Disaster Response Services personally monitored operations in Kamareddy, including GR Colony and Housing Board Colony, where all rescues were completed by Thursday noon without loss of life.

The department clarified that misleading claims had been made by an individual who refused evacuation despite being offered rescue at 11:30–11:45 PM on Wednesday, even as three of his neighbors were safely evacuated. Officials stated that continuous calls from this individual to senior officers disrupted priority-based rescue efforts.

Appealing to the public, the department urged citizens to cooperate with rescue teams and avoid spreading false claims that affect frontline operations.
