Hyderabad: A 50-year-old man died after attempting to save his daughter from an oncoming train at Sanjeevaiah Park railway station. The incident occurred on June 8. While the daughter died on the spot, the father succumbed to his injuries days later.

The victims were identified as Mohammed (50) and his daughter Aliya Begum (30). According to the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Secunderabad, Aliya, upset over marital issues, went to the railway station intending to end her life. Mohammed rushed to the station upon learning of her intentions.

As she moved toward the tracks, Mohammed tried to pull her back but both were struck by a speeding train. Aliya died instantly. Mohammed, critically injured, was taken to Gandhi Hospital by bystanders and railway police. He died on Thursday while undergoing treatment. GRP Secunderabad has registered a case and is investigating the incident.

In another case, a 28-year-old woman died after falling from the third floor of her apartment in Vanasthalipuram late Tuesday night. Her two-year-old son, who also fell, survived and is being treated at a private hospital.

The woman, identified as Sudeshna, lived with her husband Ashish Kumar and son Arush in Agamaiah Nagar Colony, Chinthalkunta. According to police, Sudeshna had recently lost seven tolas of gold jewellery during a family wedding in Nacharam on May 16. The ornaments could not be recovered despite extensive efforts.

Following the incident, Sudeshna reportedly fell from the building along with her child. Both sustained serious injuries and were taken to a private hospital. Sudeshna died during treatment, while the child remains under care. Vanasthalipuram police have registered a case.
