Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurates Falaknuma parallel ROB in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated the new Falaknuma parallel road overbridge (ROB) on Friday, along with Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, GHMC mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, GHMC commissioner and senior officials.
Parallel bridge built to ease traffic in Old City
The construction team has built the bridge parallel to the existing ROB across the Falaknuma railway track, which had become narrow and highly congested. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) undertook the new project to decongest traffic.
Built at a cost of ₹52.03 crore, the new ROB is 360 metres long with two additional lanes. The earlier ROB had only two lanes, leading to frequent jams.
Relief for commuters from Falaknuma to Chandrayangutta
The new facility will open for traffic, allowing the Old City residents, especially those travelling from Falaknuma to Chandrayangutta and other areas, to experience a smoother flow. Officials said the new bridge, starting near the Falaknuma electricity office, would significantly reduce congestion between Chandrayangutta junction and Falaknuma bus depot.
