Security alert prompts checks on Falaknuma Express at Ghatkesar station
Hyderabad: Telangana police conducted checks on the Falaknuma Express at Ghatkesar railway station on Friday following information about a potential security threat. The train, running from Howrah to Secunderabad, was stopped at Ghatkesar railway station, under Medchal district, for this operation.
Teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and Ghatkesar police of the Rachakonda commissionerate carried out the checks. The operation was based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the possible presence of individuals with terrorist links on the train.
The Falaknuma Express departed from Howrah on September 25 at 8:25 PM and was stopped at Ghatkesar on the morning of September 26 for security checks. After the operation, it arrived at Secunderabad railway station at approximately 11:30 AM, about one hour behind schedule. Officials verified passenger identities and conducted sweeps of the coaches during the check.
Police officials described the checks as precautionary. Railway operations resumed as usual once the security drill finished. Police did not disclose further details about the intelligence inputs.
