Based on credible inputs, the TGMC officials paid a surprise visit to the hospital on March 19 and caught a quack Kalapala Bharat Kumar, who was working as a Duty Medical Officer (DMO) using forged documents.

“The inspection team, led by Kadali Vishnu, a member of the TGMC, and accompanied by vigilance officers M.Ramu and M.Rakesh, found that a person identified as Kalapala Bharat Kumar was working as a Duty Medical Officer using forged documents. The individual had fabricated his medical registration certificate and was practicing medicine without a valid licence,” TGMC said in a press note.

Subsequently, the TGMC lodged a complaint with the Miyapur police station against Kalapala Bharat Kumar for allegedly practising medicine without a valid registration certificate and fabricating a registration number of another doctor.

Following the complaint, the Miyapur police have registered an FIR and charged Kumar under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including 319(2), 318(4), 338, 336(3), 340(2) , section 22 of the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration (TMPR) Act, and section 34 read with section 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act.

Following the TGMC inspection and subsequent complaint, the management of Ankura Hospital has sacked Kumar and initiated an internal inquiry. The hospital said it is fully cooperating with the authorities and will continue to take all necessary steps to support the TGMC and Police Department.

“Ankura Hospital is a responsible and committed healthcare institution that upholds the highest standards of patient safety, ethics, and professional conduct. We follow stringent protocols and a multi-stage verification process for all medical appointments. Patient care and trust are of utmost importance to us,” the hospital said in a press release.
