Hyderabad: A case involving fraudulent calls made in the name of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has come to light in Khammam district. A complaint was recently filed at Tekulapally Police Station, where a public servant reported receiving a threatening call from someone posing as an ACB official and demanding money to avoid a false case.

Following the incident, the Director General of ACB, Telangana, issued a public advisory clarifying that ACB officials do not call public servants to demand money or threaten legal action. The agency highlighted that such calls are the work of impersonators attempting to extort government employees.

The ACB urged public servants and citizens to remain alert and not fall for such scams. Anyone receiving similar calls is advised to immediately report the matter to the ACB toll-free helpline 1064 and also inform the nearest police station. Reports can also be submitted through WhatsApp at 9440446106, or via ACB’s official social media handles, Facebook (Telangana ACB) and X, formerly Twitter (@TelanganaACB). The bureau assured that the identity of the complainant will be kept strictly confidential.
